
Jenise Boland holds a Master of Education from Cambridge University, as well as a B.Ed. from Simon Fraser University and a B.A. in Literature from the University of British Columbia. She has taught in three countries on two continents, and has conducted extensive research on intercultural education and curriculum design. Currently she teaches Social Studies at an award-winning secondary school, ranked first in British Columbia by the Fraser Institute, and is frequently a speaker at educational conferences. A senior level Humanities teacher for ten years, Adrian French has experience teaching in the International Baccalaureate Programme and is currently the coordinator for the Victoria School District’s Challenge Programme for gifted students at Mount Douglas Secondary School in Victoria, B.C. Adrian holds a Bachelor of Human Kinetics and Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. While obtaining a M.Ed. from Gonzaga University in Washington State, he focused his graduate research on differentiated project-based learning in Social Studies.

Joan Parsonson is a department head and social studies teacher in Burnaby. She holds a B.Ed in Policy and Administrative Studies from the University of Calgary, a Post Baccalaureate Diploma from Simon Fraser University on the integration of First Nations and Multicultural curriculum and an M.Ed, also from SFU, on citizenship toward sustainable communities and effective decision-making.

Alan Sears is a professor of social studies education in the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick. He has been a social studies teacher for more than thirty years and has worked at all levels from primary through graduate school.
